GRand Taco and MODELO ESPECIAL are proud to partner with and support local artists throughout the West Michigan Area.

We are very honored that local artist CASSIE FRANCES agreed to design the 2025 GRand Taco artwork. Her work not only beautifies the urban landscape but also sparks joy and curiosity in those who encounter it.

LIONS AND RABBITS CENTER FOR THE ARTS commissions and exhibits artists with diverse voices, at all stages of their careers; from emerging to established; who work locally, regionally, and nationally. In our curating art practice, we encourage all forms of media - including photographs, paintings, prints, sculptures, murals, etc.

My name is Cassie Frances. I am a local artist here in the Grand Rapids area, and my specialities are illustration and graphic design. I create my illustrations with traditional materials and digitally through Adobe Illustrator. I earned my Bachelor's in Illustration and Graphic Design at Northern Michigan University. When it comes to my style and work, I love playing with surrealism, bright colors, and fun subject matter. My main goal is to create art that spreads joy and builds connections.

In March of 2021 as the restaurants of Grand Rapids tried to emerge from the 2nd round of shutdowns due to a global pandemic, we knew we needed something, ANYTHING, to raise our spirits and reconnect our community.

While uncertainty was the only certainty at the moment, one glimmer of optimism emerged from our dimly lit existence that was a thin ray of light and sliver of hope. A contest to bring the city together in friendly but intense competition, helping us forget, if only for a few short weeks, the events of the world around us. A clash of culinary curators meant to remind us that there is good in the world, this pandemic would not define our existence...

...and man how we love tacos!

GRand Taco was born to lift up our souls and find the GRandest Taco Grand Rapids has to offer. Let's get out and support these great restaurants!

Who will be winner in 2025? Only time will tell. But let's all enjoy trying to figure it out!!
